Why did it have to be Snape?

Gran says things have gone down the loo. Course she said it with more vulgar words that I'm not sure I'm at complete liberty to repeat. Actually... I don't think I want to either. They're really colourful, and I'm sure my tongue will get tied at least. And well, my summer had been going all right, until I read about Snape and the Carrows. I just about threw up at that news. Gran's right. Things have gone from bad to worse.

I still can't believe Dumbledore's really gone. He would have known what to do.

Anyway, I've forgotten what else I wanted to write about. So, I guess this is it then.

-Ginny-
How've you been? Doing all right? Heard from Harry or Hermione?

I've been all right. Or so I say. Mum and a few others have said otherwise.

I haven't heard from them directly, no. Been a bit blindsighted, I guess.

How're you?

I truly do hope you're all right.

And I've been well considering what all is going on.

I do. I just worry.

I am. Gran's got this place charmed up to the nines. If even a rat trespasses without our consent, it'll get sent straight to where it came from.

That's good, then. You'd probably know if I wasn't.

I guess the whole 'better safe than sorry' thing is true for most adults. Mum might as well have me shackled to my bedpost.

You couldn't actually read that, could you?

I'm not sure Gran did it to keep us safe though. I think she just wants to protect her plants.

I mean I want to keep the plants protected too, but I think Gran's got a funny idea that I could actually take on Death Eaters. Ever since the Ministry thing.....

Look at it this way... We can pull a bunch of stunts like Fred and George did, and whats the worst that can happen? Us getting kicked out of school?

That's true. Bad experiences don't make what they're doing any more just.

Still, keeping a bunch of extraordinarily clever, opinionated teenagers in 'line' probably gives them gray hairs, wouldn't you think?

[info]notasquib

Probably. Though if Gran's right, then they'll be sure to do whatever necessary to keep us in line.

All the more luck to them!

I don't understand. Even though the Carrows and Headmaster Snape are of... a different persuasion than Professor Dumbledore, you couldn't think that...?

I'm trying to be positive about this. I really am. But Gran seems to think this is like the Death Eaters declaring war on us. She's really worked up about this. She's never trusted Snape. I'm not sure I ever have either.

War?

Just a bit, though.

I don't want to go back to school... Diagon Alley is all boarded up and empty and it feels so desperate there, I can't imagine what school is like.

I'm scared.

I don't either. Not really anyway. If Snape was awful to me as just a regular professor, I can't imagine what he'd do as Headmaster now.

Don't be scared though, Lu. I'll make sure you'll be all right.

Thank you, Neville.

But, everything is all broken. You know, with Snape making the rules... who will protect us?

...

I've been hearing that Harry up and left after the Wedding. It makes enough sense, but it's still sort of scary. He was our leader, and now he's not here anymore.

If there's one thing I can be absolutely sure about, it's this: Harry might not be physically with us, but he'll always be around. And as long as we believe he's still guiding us through this, then he will. We can't give up just because we don't see his face. It wasn't his face that got us this far. It was his belief, his strength and his courage.

As long as we've got all that, we're fine.

That was brilliant!

You should tell that to the D.A.- I bet a lot of people need to hear that. We have to call a meeting once we're in school... Harry wouldn't want us to give up just because he's not here.
